EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME ‘Travelling with the Neraida: A Game On Board’ 2018–2019

The Neraida Floating Museum invites primary school teachers to sign up for participation in the educational programme "Travelling with the Neraida: A Game On Boardat the Flisvos Marina, for the 2018–2019 school year.

The programme includes a series of group games and activities, which are carried out in the premises of the museum by qualified museum pedagogues. During the programme, the children will visit the historic ship of the Argosaronic Line, learn about aspects of Greek shipping and ferrying of the 20th century and explore individual themes, such as voyaging and sea, ships and shipping, communication and transportation, people and memories.

Participation in the educational programme is free of charge. The cost of the educational programme and educational material and the pupils’ travel expenses within Attica will be fully covered by the Neraida Floating Museum.

The private legal entity ‘Neraida Floating Museum’ was founded in 2012 and is funded by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, with the aim of promoting the history of the Neraida passenger ship and carrying out activities related to Greece’s shipping history and tradition, business history, the attraction of young people to the maritime profession and the protection of the marine environment.


Useful information

Visits are aimed at groups of pupils aged 8–11 years old (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade) and will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9:30 am and at 11:30 am. The duration of the educational programme is approximately 1.5 hours. The maximum number of participants per group is 25 children.

The programme is carried out in the indoor areas of the ship, where the exhibition is being held. The ship is moored at the Flisvos Marina, close to the Park of Maritime Tradition.

During visits, children can bring water and a snack. The accompanying teachers are exclusively responsible for the students they are accompanying, and they are present throughout the entire duration of the programme.

To participate in the programme, the application form that is available here must be completed and sent via e-mail to: info@neraida.org. Within two days from receiving the application, the personnel of the Museum will contact the interested parties to organise the visit.

School visits will be booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

Every Sunday, at 11:00–12:00, the educational programme ‘Travelling with the Neraida: A Game On Board’, which is aimed at children aged 6–12 years old, will be carried out at the Museum. Parents who would like to sign up for participation should send an e-mail to info@neraida.org, stating their full name, the child’s/children’s full name/s and age/s, the date they are interested in and a contact number. You may also sign up for participation at the Museum’s welcome area during the opening days and hours.
