For the second consecutive year, the Neraida Floating Museum is "traveling" to primary schools across Greece, aiming to familiarise students with aspects ofwith aspects of
Greek international shipping and coastal shipping in the 20th century. This year's activities seek to entertain students in the safety of their classroom, and to provide them with a well-developed and creative way to visit and explore the ship, even remotely. What's the next step? A visit to the museum!

Join us for the following educational activities at the Neraida Floating Museum, embarking on an exciting journey through space and time!


Educational Portfolios

Learn about the history of the passenger ship “Neraida” and its conversion into a floating museum through rich printed and visual material (videos, images, activity cards, etc.). The Educational Portfolios are sent free of charge to primary school teachers upon application. They are designed to be used in the classroom under the teachers' guidance and come with detailed instructions on suggested activities and games, tailored to the needs of each student age group. The three available Educational Portfolios are:

 

  • "Traveling with Neraida!" for 1st & 2nd Grade Students

Could a Neraida (= fairy in greek) start its engines and travel the seas? Emit smoke from its funnel? Drop anchor in distant places?

  • "Anchors aweigh!" for children in the 3rd & 4th grade of Primary School

What does it take for a ship to sail? Who makes up its crew? Where is everyone located, and what are their duties? Help Neraida set sail!

  • Neraida: A ship full of stories!” for children in the 5th & 6th grade of Primary School

When does the story of the vessel "Neraida" begin? How did it come to Greece? Why was it named that way? Where did it travel, and when? What strange events occurred on the ship?

Interactive Online Guided Tours

As a part of this activity, students have the chance to take a virtual tour of the Museum’s exhibition spaces, discover the objects and stories of the ship, meet the crew members, and, depending on the age group, participate in remote activities related to travel and the sea, ships and navigation, communication and transportation, people and memories. The Interactive Online Guided Tours are offered free of charge from Tuesday to Thursday, 09:00-13:00, via online platforms (Webex, Zoom, Skype, etc.) and upon application. They last about 1 hour and are available to all school units in the country.

 


Applications for participation

To participate in the programmes, please fill in the application form for the Educational Portfolios and/or the corresponding application form for the Interactive Online Guided Tours, both available for download, and send them to [email protected]. Within two days of receipt of each application, the Museum’s staff will contact you in order to send you the Educational Portfolio and/or arrange for the Interactive Online Tour.
